Dave Cockburn has lived and worked in the region for most of his life and has a passion for the region and its future.

"This is a great region with so much potential," he said.

Elected to Beaudesert Shire Council in 2004, he served as Planning and Development Committee Chairman. He was re-elected as  Division Four Councillor and Deputy Mayor for Scenic Rim Regional Council at the 2008 elections.

Dave has a background in small business and strongly supports economic development as a result.

"Small business is so important to our region's economy," he said.

Dave is also involved in various community groups and is currently president of the Rathdowney Area Development and Heritage Association Inc (RADHA), which organises the successful Rathdowney Heritage Festival. He and his wife Janelle have two children.

Dave is the chair of Council's Planning and Development Committee and is a member of the following organisations:
