When will the next election be?
Under the Local Government Electoral Act 2011 (LGEA) a local government election is required to be held in 2012 (and every four years thereafter) on the last Saturday in March. This date may be varied by a Regulation of the State Government. The next election is scheduled to occur on 28 April 2012.

Does Council run the election?
No. The Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) is responsible for running the election under the LGEA. Council has no direct role in this process, however is required to provide funding in support of the elections.
