Election Process Election Process

Councillors for all local governments across Queensland are elected at quadrennial elections.

The election process is managed by the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ). Contact details for ECQ can be found at: https://www.ecq.qld.gov.au/about-us/contactus

Council's only function regarding local government elections is to regulate the erection of roadside election signage in its area. Intending candidates should contact Council's Compliance Section for particulars.

Local, State and Federal Electoral Boundaries

The Scenic Rim region is bordered on the north and east by the cities of Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich, and on the west by the regions of Lockyer Valley and Southern Downs. Its southern border follows the New South Wales border.

In preparation for the 2016 Local Government Elections, the Electoral Commission of Queensland has reviewed the Region's Electoral Divisions to ensure that enrolments remain within quota.

Current and proposed boundaries for the Region's six Divisions can be found on the ECQ website.
