The town of Kalbar is situated in the fertile Fassifern with magnificent views of the Scenic Rim.
Kalbar has a rich German history which is reflected in many historic sites around town.
Kalbar acts as a secondary commercial and service centre in the region.
Kalbar offers shopping facilities, civic centre, hotel, showgrounds, school, historical churches, retirement village, parks and gardens.
Attractions include heritage listed buildings of the Wiss Emporium (above right) and Wiss House, cafes and art galleries.
The annual Kalbar Show is held each year in June. The popular event began in 1926 as a calf show and has grown in size through the years.
Every year the variety and number of stands also continues to increase in line with the changing face of the Scenic Rim. More recently among the exhibitors and products on display was local wine, olives and gourmet cheeses. The ever popular sideshow alley, amusement rides and food stands are also a large part of the attraction.
