Region's at the Heart of Community Plan Pulse Check

Council is seeking community feedback to renew the focus of the shared vision for the future of the Scenic Rim during its Community Plan Pulse Check in coming weeks.

The Community Plan 2011-2026 was developed by Council following extensive community consultation during 2011and reflects the aspirations of Council and the community for the growth and development of the region.

Corporate and Community Services Chair Cr Virginia West urged Scenic Rim residents to offer their feedback on proposed amendments to the plan, either at a series of Community Conversation public forums in February or by mail or email in written submissions to Council.

"The review of the Community Plan takes account of the significant changes which have occurred in the Scenic Rim during the past five years," she said.

The Community Plan was initially developed as a legislative requirement under the Local Government Act 2009.

"Although the Act was amended in 2012 so that this was no longer a legislative requirement, Scenic Rim Regional Council remains committed to advocating for the implementation of a long-term vision for the area focused on the unique beauty, heritage and landmarks as reflected in its Community Plan 2011-2026," Cr West said.

"We recognise the vision of the Scenic Rim community embedded in the Community Plan and regard it as a valuable document to provide long-term direction for the region."

Submissions on proposed amendments to the plan and any other feedback will be accepted until 5pm on Friday 9 March 2018.

"Council is the custodian of the Community Plan for members of the 'Scenic Rim community but community feedback is vital for the development, implementation and life of the plan," Cr West said.
