10 MARCH - MAYOR WELCOMES ROSLYN LODGE BREAKTHROUGH
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen has welcomed today's announcement by PresCare that it had reached agreement with another aged care provider to take over the operation of Tamborine Mountain's Roslyn Lodge.
PresCare has entered into an agreement with Beaumont Care, an Australian family-owned and operated provider of accredited aged care services based on Redcliffe Peninsula, which will acquire Roslyn Lodge.
"Today's announcement is a great outcome for Tamborine Mountain and provides certainty and continuity for aged care services within the community," he said.
"There was, understandably, a lot of emotion and angst associated with PresCare's initial announcement regarding the closure Roslyn Lodge.
"From day one, Council was committed to working with PresCare to find a better way forward.
"I commend PresCare CEO Greg Skelton and his staff for the active and open dialogue they have maintained with the Council and me during this time.
"I acknowledge the positive and productive manner in which PresCare has worked behind the scenes to achieve the transfer of this important community facility to a new provider."
Cr Christensen said it was apparent from his discussions with PresCare that the wellbeing and welfare of residents and staff had been central to the organisation's decision-making processes.
"While I'm advised no additional residents will be relocated from Roslyn Lodge from this point, PresCare has achieved a number of positive outcomes where residents have been relocated closer to family, in some instances interstate, while others have been relocated in clusters to preserve their micro-community," he said.
Cr Christensen said Council looked forward to working with the new operators of Roslyn Lodge, Beaumont Care, over the coming days to progress a positive future for the facility.
"I've already spoken to Linda Beaumont, owner of Beaumont Care, and welcomed her organisation to the Scenic Rim," he said.
