Members of the Scenic Rim sport and recreation community are encouraged to apply for funding assistance through Council's 2017/18 Sport and Recreation Program, from Monday 29 May 2017.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the Scenic Rim sport and recreation community provide a valuable contribution to supporting a healthy and active lifestyle.

"These grants assist not-for-profit sport and recreation groups with capital projects, equipment, construction materials and leveraging larger funding opportunities for the maintenance and improvements of their facilities," Mayor Greg Christensen said.

"Enshrined in Council's Community Plan is a healthy, engaged and resourceful community, with these grants critical in achieving this through strengthening social connections and building community ties through sport and recreation."

The scope of projects eligible for funding under the program include:

  • the purchase of equipment or construction materials;
  • infrastructure or facility improvements;
  • field or surface upgrades; and
  • leverage funding for larger infrastructure grants.

Council's Sport and Recreation grants program is able to provide leverage opportunities for clubs preparing to apply for larger facilities projects, such as the Queensland Government's Get Playing Places and Spaces program which opens on 19 June.

Clubs are encouraged to contact Council's Healthy and Active officers on 5540 5111 should they be considering submitting an application through the grant program.

Applications must be submitted to Council by close of business, Monday 26 June 2017.
