Demographic Profile

Region – Central North

Beaudesert town is one of the central hubs of the region and offers retail, business, government, recreational and health services.

Bromelton, with its long-term strategic supply of industrial land, is also located in this portion of the region.

Scenic Rim Region – Central South

This region encompasses Rathdowney and Kooralbyn.

Rathdowney is characterised by a village atmosphere and is important as an area for primary production. Main activities include dairying, and horse breeding and training.

Rathdowney is also the gateway to the wilderness "scenic-rim" area of Mt Barney, Mt Maroon and Mt Lindesay. These national parks attract experienced bushwalkers and rock climbers.

Kooralbyn offers a rural residential, leisure-orientated lifestyle. Tourism is a key activity in the area.

Scenic Rim Region – East

Forming part of the Gold Coast hinterland, the areas of Lamington, Binna Burra and Tamborine Mountain are renowned for their national parks, scenic beauty and first class accommodation facilities. These areas offer a unique tourism experience to visitors.

Canungra also offers tourism-orientated activities including farm-stays. As a main service centre for this part of the region, it is a stopping point for tourists enroute to the Lamington and Binna Burra regions. The Australian Army has a training facility here as well.

Agriculture is important to the region, particularly on Tamborine Mountain and in Canungra.

Scenic Rim Region – West

The picturesque Boonah and surrounds make a perfect place for a brief or extended stay to enjoy the great outdoors. The Region boasts many picnic spots, country style accommodation, camping areas and seven National Parks taking in Mount French, Mount Edwards, The Head, Mount Greville, Mount Maroon and Cunningham's and Spicers Gap.
