SES - Storms, Floods, Search and Rescue

The Scenic Rim State Emergency Service (SES) is a group of well trained, well led and well equipped volunteers who help the community cope with and recover from disasters.  The unit won Regional Unit of the Year at the South Eastern Region SES Week Awards in 2007.

The SES can be called out to help the community in times of extreme damaging weather and search and rescue operations on land and water. The SES also supports Police, Ambulance and Fire officers at emergency incidents by providing traffic control and welfare assistance.

The SES relies on funding from the State and Local Governments to provide vehicles, personal protective equipment and basic operating equipment. All members are volunteers and ongoing operational costs, additional safety equipment and training is generated through various fundraising activities and support from Scenic Rim Regional Council.

The Scenic Rim Region SES trains on a regular basis to keep skills up-to-date. The eastern division (Beaudesert area) trains weekly at one of its two depots located at Brayford St, Beaudesert and Knoll Rd, North Tamborine. The western division (Boonah area) of the Unit trains on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Depots are located on the Cunningham Highway, Aratula and Cossart St, Boonah.
