Urban Fire Brigades

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority is the primary provider of fire and rescue activities throughout Queensland. The region has eight auxiliary (part time) urban fire brigades.

The brigades attend:

  • Road accident rescue and a vast range of other types of rescue
  • Responding to fires in homes, buildings, vehicles and on the land
  • Community awareness, education and training on fire and road safety issues


The brigades are part of the South Eastern Region which occupies the area to the south of Brisbane including the Gold Coast and south-east Queensland down to the New South Wales border and west to the Great Dividing Range. 


The South Eastern Region has 33 urban fire stations and an operational staff of 420 full-time and 227 auxiliary fire officers.   Further information on the Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority can be found at www.fire.qld.gov.au/default.asp
