22 FEBRUARY - FREE TREES TO HELP COMMUNITY GREEN THE REGION
Applications for the 2017 round of Council’s Community Trees Initiative are now open to community groups across the Scenic Rim. The Initiative provides community groups, social clubs, sporting associations and school groups with the opportunity to do something positive for the environment by planting trees in their local area.
21 FEBRUARY - RECYCLED TVs WILL BE THE BEES' KNEES AT EARTH DAY
Recycled analogue televisions attuned to the needs of native bees are set to be prime time viewing during Council's Earth Day festival at Beaudesert Library in April. Mayor Greg Christensen said planning for the event was in full swing and encouraged everyone with an interest in sustainability to mark Saturday 22 April on their calendar.
10 FEBRUARY - GET SET TO KICK SOME HEALTH AND FITNESS GOALS IN 2017
Scenic Rim residents are being encouraged to kick some health and fitness goals in 2017, with Council's Be Healthy and Active program running from now until the end of April.
10 FEBRUARY - NEW PARK TO BOOST GALLERY WALK'S POSTCARD APPEAL
Civil works for the much-anticipated Gallery Walk Community Park on Tamborine Mountain will kick-off next week. The new park is located on the corner Long and Eagle Heights roads, at the southern end of popular Gallery Walk.
31 JANUARY - IT'S LIGHTS, CAMERA AND ROLL-EM FOR SCENIC RIM ROADS SURVEY
High tech laser measurement and video imaging is being used in a survey of the Scenic Rim's 1730-kilometre network of roads now underway across the region.
