2021 Scenic Rim BioBlitz

Get hands-on and give back to the environment this spring by joining the 2021 Scenic Rim BioBlitz, running from 21-31 October 2021.

Scenic Rim Regional Council, in partnership with Watergum, invites locals of all ages and backgrounds to come together as citizen scientists to help collect vital species data in the Scenic Rim.

30-31 October - Burnett Creek

Join the Scenic Rim Regional Council on a guided walk on private land which is a Nature Refuge and Land for Wildlife property in Burnett Creek helping to identify local flora and fauna species and upload them using the iNaturalist app. Scenic Rim is home to a wide range of fascinating flora and fauna. Help assist experts in the field to explore and record the biodiversity in this beautiful area. Find out more here.

RESCHEDULED | 12 November - Duck Creek Road

Join the Scenic Rim Regional Council on a guided walk throughout a private property in Duck Creek Rd, Kerry (20 minutes from Beaudesert) helping to identify local flora and fauna species and upload them using the iNaturalist app. Parts of this property were burnt in the 2019 fires so there will be some sections that will be surveyed to see how the biodiversity is recovering. RESCHEDULED | 19 November - Beechmont

Join the Scenic Rim Regional Council on a guided walk through an area on a Land for Wildlife property in Beechmont helping to identify local flora species and upload them using the iNaturalist app. This property is very steep and there are no formal tracks so a high level of fitness is needed for this survey. This area is rainforest abutting the Lamington National Park and so it is possible that some rare or unusual species may be identified on the day. Find out more here.
