Activities for Adults

Archives

Volunteers run the Archives Room at the Boonah Library on a Friday afternoon. They do a lot of research in the local area and have access to some wonderful resources. Beaudesert and Tamborine Mountain Libraries hold records relating to the region as well as published items that can be accessed onsite.

Book Club

Book clubs offer a chance to read interesting books and discuss themes, ideas and writing styles. It's a great chance to socialise with like-minded people. There are book clubs running at Beaudesert, Boonah and Tamborine Mountain Libraries. We even have a community book club at Kooralbyn.

It's free to join and you'll get to take home a book to read before the next scheduled Book Club meeting.

Craft

Each month local community members meet up at the Beaudesert, Boonah and Tamborine Mountain Libraries to learn fun new ways to craft. Activities in the past have included such things as Flip Cup Art, Macrame Plant Hangers, Polymer Earrings and Wind Chimes.

Click and Collect Outreach Service

The service is available fortnightly and delivers requested library books and resources to various areas in the Scenic Rim region. Available reservations can be collected from the Click & Collect Library Courier Van and items you have finished with will be able to be returned. This service will not have items onboard to browse. Technology assistance is also on offer if you wish to take advantage of this service.

Digital Literacy Classes

If you need help with your digital device, phone, tablet or computer, there are digital classes available at Beaudesert and Tamborine Mountain Libraries. Classes focus on the fundemantals and include topics on iPhone basics, android Basics, introduction to the internet plus more! All experience levels are welcome and bookings can be made here.

Sessions not held during school holidays

Justice of the Peace

JPs and CDecs are trained Queenslanders who can witness and certify your routine legal documents. For example, wills, affidavits, statutory declarations and enduring documents. This program is run by volunteers at Beaudesert, Boonah, Canungra and Tamborine Mountain Libraries. Occasionally circumstances prevent these volunteers from being available as per the timetable.

Poetry

At Tamborine Mountain Library there is a poetry group that meets once a month to get creative.

Small Business Hub

A representative from Department of Small Business Trading Queensland Government is available at various times and days at the library to assist.

Yak and Yarn/Knitting

Knitting groups meet regularly at Beaudesert and Tamborine Mountain. These groups often contribute to local community projects such as Yarn Bombing.

U3A

Beaudesert Library hosts activities and discussion groups for the Beaudesert U3A organisation. Beaudesert U3A promotes the joy of learning for the sake of learning, and seeks to open up new horizons for its members unrestricted by the requirements of vocation or the desire for qualifications. It does so, principally by drawing upon the extensive life experience, skills and energies of members.
