Lighting upgrade underway at Stratford Field to support local sport

Major lighting installation is now progressing at Selwyn Park’s Stratford Field in Beaudesert, with Scenic Rim Regional Council delivering new LED floodlighting to improve night-time training and competition for local players.
Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Stephen Moriarty said the upgrade will give the district’s growing sporting community the facilities they deserve.
“Selwyn Park is one of Beaudesert’s busiest sporting grounds, and this project will make a tangible difference for the clubs and players who rely on it,” he said.
The project includes four new 18-metre lighting poles and high-performance Sylvania Raptor Gen 4 LED luminaires designed to meet club-level football standards.
Early works began in mid-November with soil testing, field investigations and installation of a new conduit and pit system.
Poles are due for delivery in early December, with the LED luminaires installation scheduled in the new year.
“Reliable, modern lighting means safer training conditions, more flexible scheduling and a better experience for everyone using the field," Cr Moriarty said.
"It also ensures the site meets the latest national standards for competition lighting, which is increasingly important as our clubs expand.”
Council and contractors are working closely with the Selwyn Park Committee and Beaudesert Soccer Club to coordinate field access during construction, with short-term restrictions in place to keep users safe.
The project was made possible through funding from the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Scenic Rim Regional Council.
