First 5 Forever

Our First 5 Forever van makes regular visits to the following areas: Beechmont, Canungra, Kalbar, Peak Crossing, Rathdowney and Tamborine Village.

Children love to hear your singing voice and you are the most important teacher in your child’s life. Sharing songs or nursery rhymes with your child encourages their abilities to predict language patterns through the repetition of songs and nursery rhymes. These moments of singing will encourage your child’s abilities to communicate socially and learn to read.

Join us at a location near you on the following days:

BEECHMONT - Graceleigh Park the 1st Thursday of each month at 10am (excluding school holidays)

CANUNGRA - DJ Smith Park  the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10am

KALBAR - Kalbar Civic Centre Park the 3rd Thursday of the month  at 9:30am

PEAK CROSSING - Peak Mountain View Park the 4th Monday of each month at 10am

RATHDOWNEY - Rathdowney State School the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 9:30am (excluding school holidays)

TAMBORINE VILLAGE - Tamborine Village Memorial Hall Playground  the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 9:30am.

Mobile Library Services

Our Mobile Service is currently unavailable - when it returns we are planning to make regular visits to the following areas: Beechmont, Tamborine, Kooralbyn, Rathdowney, Kalbar, Harrisville and Peak Crossing.

Communities across the Scenic Rim will have access to a new and improved mobile library service in the coming year. This flexible service will better serve the needs of the community replacing the large mobile library trailer.

The Council has listened to community feedback over the past few months and was pleased the new service would offer contemporary library services across the region that better reflects what the community needs. Through our consultation with the community, many people understood that we needed to reshape our services, and were keen to see more flexibility in the services we offer.

One of the great advantages is that the new service will include a smaller multi-purpose van, which means it can be parked almost anywhere. This new service allows for the introduction of additional visits to institutions such as schools, day care centres and nursing homes, which our communities raised as an important service in the survey.

To order items for delivery, go to the library catalogue and place a reservation when asked for a pick up location, specify the township that you require. Any items that have been reserved and are available for loan will be delivered and made available to be picked up.

While delivering reservations and accepting any returns council officers will also be offering assistance with digital technology and devices as well as offering free wi-fi during the visit. Library members are welcome to bring a mobile phone, laptop or tablet to gain digital assistance.

Our JP's in the community program are volunteers and circumstances occasionally prevent them from being available as per the timetable below.
