Cards can be purchased online or purchased and loaded up at numerous local stores including:

They then work just like normal EFTPOS debit cards and can be spent at participating Scenic Rim businesses.

Shop Scenic Rim gift cards can be purchased at a select number of stores referred to as ‘Load Up Stores.’ Cards can also be purchased online. Cards can be loaded to any amount between $10 and $1,000 to be spent at any participating Scenic Rim business.
Cards can only be loaded up once, however money loaded onto cards can be used for multiple transactions across multiple participating stores.
Card balances and transaction records can be accessed online when cards are registered.

Cards have an expiry date three (3) years from the date of purchase/load up.
The cards are manufactured with PVC plastic and contain a magnetic strip that is encoded with the card details. Each card has a unique identification number as well as a 4-digit pin located on the back of the card.
The cards will work on all standard EFTPOS terminals as well as EFTPOS terminals that are integrated with a computer and are made to the same standard as any of the bank-issued debit cards. They are required to be swiped through the EFTPOS terminal to transact; therefore, they will not operate via pay wave.
Participating businesses will be charged standard fees for each transaction via their EFTPOS terminal, as per individual arrangements with their banks. There are NO ADDITIONAL FEES charged.
Lost & damaged cards – cards can be replaced if registered online after purchase. Unregistered cards are like cash – if lost, they are gone. To register your Shop Scenic Rim gift card, click here.
Types of participating businesses
Redemption Stores - redemption stores are businesses where gift cards can be redeemed to purchase products or services.
Load Up Stores - load up stores are businesses where gift cards can be purchased and ‘loaded’ with the desired value of funds, as well as redeemed to purchase products or services. Please contact us for more information about becoming a load up store.

How many times can the card be used?
Cards can be loaded once (not ‘topped up’ after purchase) but can be used multiple times to make purchases, until the loaded amount is all spent.
What happens if I lose my gift card?
Cards are non-redeemable if it is lost – unless card numbers are registered online. To register your Shop Scenic Rim gift card, click here.
How do I check the balance on my gift card?
The balance of funds remaining on cards, as well as a transaction record, can be checked online.
Where is the money that is loaded onto the gift cards held?
No funds are held by Shop Scenic Rim, Scenic Rim Regional Council, or the participating businesses.
All funds that are loaded onto the cards are stored in a separate trust account managed by Cuscal, the largest independent provider of payments solutions for the Australian financial services sector. For more information about Cuscal visit https://cuscalpayments.com.au/.
What happens with the funds when the cards expire?
Card funds that remain 3 years after being loaded will expire, in line with government legislation requirements. Cardholders cannot access funds on expired cards.
The dollar amount left on the cards at expiry is known as the breakage. 75% of any funds left on the card after expiry are returned to the promoter (the remaining 25% go to the card providers for this program). Of the 75% returned to the promoter, 100% of these funds are passed back on to Scenic Rim Regional Council. The promoter makes no profit from expired funds in our programs.
What systems won’t the cards work on?
Please note that the cards WILL NOT work on Square, PayPal, or similar card readers at this time. Although some of these terminals have a swipe function and will accept EFTPOS cards, these terminals operate differently to standard EFTPOS terminals, and hence cannot be ‘locked down.’ The locking down process is at the core of the system as it is what ensures that the money can only be spent at participating stores.
