Scenic Rim Regional Council has endorsed a plan for Dick Westerman Park, paving the way for a new Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) and indoor multi-sport facility that will create a modern, integrated community precinct for Beaudesert.

The decision at today's Ordinary Meeting follows a strong community response to consultation held in August and September this year, in which 154 residents and stakeholders shared their views online, in person and at the Beaudesert Markets.

Scenic Rim's Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Stephen Moriarty said the plan reflects the feedback provided to Council.

“Overall, 59 per cent of respondents supported the project, highlighting the need for new youth spaces and more diverse sporting opportunities,” Cr Moriarty said.

“Residents were clear about keeping a strong mix of sports, maintaining open-space connections, and ensuring the markets and long-standing community uses remain part of the park’s future.”

Councillor Jennifer Sanders said continued collaboration with funding partners would be crucial.

“We’re grateful for the support already shown by both the Queensland and Australian Governments, particularly the funding committed to PCYC Queensland,” Cr Sanders said.

“These partnerships are vital, and we’ll continue working closely with all funding bodies to bring this precinct to life.”

The Queensland Government has provided $1 million to PCYC Queensland, with a further $4 million available if construction proceeds by 30 June 2026.

The indoor multi-sport facility is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program in partnership with Scenic Rim Regional Council.

Council will now progress to detailed design and the next stages of project delivery.
