Scenic Rim Regional Council has secured three significant state and national honours to close out 2025, marking one of the organisation’s strongest years of achievement across reporting, infrastructure and tourism.

CEO David Keenan said the wins place the Scenic Rim among the better-performing regional councils in Queensland.

“For the first time, Council has received a Silver Award at the Australasian Reporting Awards, a benchmark only a small proportion of councils reach nationwide,” Mr Keenan said.

“It demonstrates our commitment to transparency and high-quality reporting, and it’s an achievement our staff should be very proud of.”

Council’s success continued at the 2025 IPWEA annual conference, where the Beaudesert Town Centre Revitalisation Project earned two major awards: Road Safety and Public Works Project of the Year.

“To receive dual honours for the same project is exceptional, and the staff should be very proud of what they achieved.” Mr Keenan said.

“It highlights the strength of our planning and engineering teams, and confirms the Beaudesert revitalisation as a leading example of regional infrastructure delivery.”

The region also triumphed at the 2025 Queensland Tourism Awards, taking home Gold for Excellence in Food Tourism for the Scenic Rim Eat Local Movement.

“This category attracts some of the most competitive entries in the state,” Mr Keenan said.

“Winning Gold reinforces the Scenic Rim’s reputation as one of Queensland’s premier food destinations and showcases the commitment of our producers, tourism operators and staff.”

Council also celebrated a workforce milestone, with a former trainee named a top-five finalist in the Queensland Training Awards – Trainee of the Year, selected from more than 750 nominations.

“As a regional employer, seeing local talent recognised at this level is incredibly rewarding,” Mr Keenan said.

“It speaks to the quality of our training pathways, and the opportunities we’re creating for young people.”

With the year drawing to a close, Mr Keenan thanked staff and the community for their resilience and cooperation.

“As we head into Christmas, I want to acknowledge the hard work of our teams and the support of residents right across the Scenic Rim," he said.
