The tireless work and commitment of a Beaudesert community volunteer has been recognised by Scenic Rim Regional Council at a recent sports club information evening.

Primary school teacher Nat Ford was nominated by the Beaudesert Swimming Club in recognition of her outstanding contributions across multiple community organisations, serving as Treasurer for both the Beaudesert Swimming Club and the Beaudesert Netball Club.

Known as someone who is 'always the first to put her hand up to help', she has dedicated countless hours to ensuring these organisations run smoothly and successfully.

Mrs Ford also plays a key role in organising major fundraising events for the swimming club, regularly assists at club nights and carnivals, and has continued to volunteer over the past two years even after her own children stopped swimming.

Beyond her sporting involvement, Mrs Ford also contributes her time as Vice President of the local kindergarten.

Councillor Stephen Moriarty, who oversees the Council’s Sport and Recreation portfolio, said Mrs Ford’s generosity, reliability and strong community spirit made her a truly deserving recipient of recognition.

"Congratulations and thank you to Nat!" Cr Moriarty said.

Mrs Ford was thankful and surprised by the recognition – but in a twist of fate, she missed presentation night due to volunteering and received her award later.

“I’ve been volunteering since I was 18, starting at the netball club," she said.

"Over those years I've worked with so many community-minded and committed people.

"The people I have volunteered alongside have taught me so much - how to be involved - and they inspire me to continue to be involved in the sporting clubs today.

“I do it for the kids honestly. I love seeing the kids enjoy the sport no matter what the sport is and I love the team environment.

“My own children are teenagers now and are still involved in the sporting groups. I love seeing families connect and parents meeting friends through sport.

"It’s that connection and community that keep me volunteering.”

Cr Moriarty said the presentation evening was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge all volunteers across Scenic Rim community clubs.

"Their dedication, generosity, and countless hours of effort often go unseen, yet they are the backbone of our community,” he said.

"From organising events, coaching, mentoring, and fundraising, to simply lending a helping hand when needed, volunteers play a vital role in keeping our clubs and community thriving.

"Their commitment strengthens connections, builds resilience, and ensures that everyone, from young members to long-time participants, has the support and opportunities they need to grow and enjoy community life.

"We celebrate and thank every volunteer for their invaluable contribution."
