Twenty-three local not-for-profit groups and organisations will share in funding of more than $92,000 from Council for a range of cultural and recreational projects that will enrich the wider Scenic Rim community.

The allocation of funds under Council's 2025-2026 Scenic Rim Minor Grants Program endorsed at today's Ordinary Meeting supports projects ranging from the acquisition of new or upgraded equipment to events such as the Boonah Arts Festival and the Tamborine Mountain Orchestral & Choral Society’s concerts.

More than half of the grants recipients have been allocated at least $4,000, with six projects granted the maximum amount of $5,000.

Scenic Rim's Community, Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Kerri Cryer said the grants program was an essential initiative delivering positive projects that benefit local residents.

“Whether it’s social events keeping people connected or sporting clubs encouraging healthy lifestyles, our local not-for-profit organisations provide a range of positive outcomes for our community across the region," she said.

“Council recognises the importance of these groups and the value they bring to our region and remains committed to investing in projects they lead.

“Supporting initiatives that foster resilient, vibrant communities and improving overall social wellbeing assists these groups and their volunteers to continue their valuable work in our community.”

The Scenic Rim Community Grants Program 2025-2026 is delivered through three streams: Minor Community Grants of up to $5,000, Major Community Grants of up to $20,000 and In-Kind Grants of up to $1,500.

Applications for Round Two of the minor community grants opened on 2 February and closed 28 February 2026 attracting 35 eligible applications which were then assessed by a panel.

The funding allocated was part of the overall budget of $400,000 for the Scenic Rim Community Grants Program in 2025-2026 financial year.

Some $243,262 has already been distributed through Round One Major and Minor Grants, with the remaining $64,470.51 reserved for the In-Kind Grant Program which provides resources, materials or services to assist community groups with the delivery of projects and events.
