With magnificent views of the Scenic Rim, Kalbar is situated in the fertile Fassifern Valley.
Its rich German history is reflected in many historic sites around town which provides a secondary commercial and service centre in the region.
Kalbar offers shopping facilities, a civic centre, hotel, showgrounds, school, historical churches, a retirement village and parks and gardens.
Attractions include heritage-listed buildings of the Wiss Emporium (above right) and Wiss House, cafes and art galleries.
The Kalbar Show is held each year in June. The popular event began in 1926 as a calf show and continues to grow in size and diversity, mirroring the changing face of the Scenic Rim.
Exhibits and products on display now include local wine, olives and gourmet cheeses. The ever-popular sideshow alley, amusement rides and food stands are also a large part of the attraction.
