Scenic Rim Regional Council is committed to delivering an accessible and serviced region and has allocated a budget in 2022 - 2023 nearing $34 million to improving our infrastructure.
Where possible, Council continues to partner with the Australian and Queensland Government in infrastructure investment.

This page identifies significant road and infrastructure construction activities and does not include smaller maintenance operations, State Government works or public utility provider/development works.
Bitumen Resurfacing Works
Important Notice to Residents and Businesses
As part of Council's commitment to provide ongoing investment in its road network and to deliver an accessible and serviced region, Council will be undertaking Bitumen Resurfacing Works to resurface (reseal) approximately 41 kilometres of roads over the coming two months.
When will it happen?
Works are scheduled to commence in February 2024 and are expected to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting. Works will generally occur between 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
Where will it happen?
These works will occur on Scenic Rim Regional Council roads across our region and include:
Aratula, Barney View, Beaudesert, Boonah, Bromelton, Christmas Creek, Cryna, Darlington, Dugandan, Gleneagle, Hillview, Innisplain, Josephville, Kalbar, Kerry, Kooralbyn, Lamington, Milford, Moorang, Mt Barney, Oaky Creek, Peak Crossing, Radford, Rathdowney, Rosevale, Running Creek, Tamrookum, Tamrookum Creek, Tarome and Veresdale Scrub.
It is noted that due to the affects of the South Queensland Severe Storms and Rainfall, 24 December 2023 – 3 January 2024, Bitumen Resurfacing works in the Eastern part of the region has been postponed to 2024-2025 Financial Year.
What can I expect during these works?
Roads will remain open and will be subject to changed traffic conditions to enable works to be undertaken safely and efficiently.
In urban areas, signage will be installed in your street to advise the date of the works, please have your vehicle removed from the street before the nominated date, so we can undertake works.

Location
Details
Duck Creek Road, Kerry
Due to heavy rainfall and flooding associated with ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie in March 2017, a section of Duck Creek Road suffered severe damage, making it totally impassable by all vehicles. Vehicle access is closed to all vehicles and will remain closed until further notice.
Head Road, Carneys Creek
Head Road near Brett Road at Carneys Creek remains closed for public safety while a series of works commence, including guardrail replacement and emergency repairs from significant wet weather.

Need to report a problem or check the status of a road?
Issues with Council-owned roads can be reported through an Online Request form or by calling (07) 5540 5111 with the road name, suburb and specific location.
State-controlled road conditions can be checked through the Queensland Government Traffic and Travel information.
The relevant road owner and contact details can be found through the Queensland Government Road Lookup function.
Alternatively, contact 13 19 40 for information about the conditions on major roads controlled by the State in addition to Local Roads of Regional Significance.
