Country charm and a patchwork of paddocks provide the perfect recipe for an extra-long weekend in June as Scenic Rim Eat Local Month shines a spotlight on the region's west.

From Thursday 6 June to Sunday 9 June, locals and visitors alike are invited to indulge in four flavour-filled days discovering the delights of country towns of Boonah, Kalbar, Harrisville, Roadvale and Mount Alford.

The second of Eat Local Month's showcase weekends is jam-packed with country flavour and brimming with the hospitality for which the Scenic Rim is renowned, beginning at Blume Restaurant in Boonah.

Sharing Blume's kitchen for the first of its Guest Chef Series, Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Jack Stuart will be demonstrating his love of the region's produce alongside the head chef of Brisbane's celebrated Gerard's Bistro, Jimmy Richardson, presenting a lunch on Thursday 6 June that will have lovers of fine food wanting to linger longer.

On Friday 7 June, The Overflow Estate 1985's Long Lunch will be a five-course culinary journey guided by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Olivier Boudon.

Diners will be spoilt for choice in Boonah in the evening with the Sunset Soiree at The Vue Restaurant, Boonah State High School's artful Canvas and Canapés experience and the Scenic Rim Twilight Markets at The Bowl, with local produce and artisan stalls, live music and barefoot bowls.

With more than 600 million carrots harvested annually, the Scenic Rim has become Australia's carrot capital and on Saturday 8 June Kalfresh Carrot Day will offer plenty of hands-on fun at Kalbar.

The Kalbar-BQ Gourmet Country Long Lunch at the Kalbar School of Arts and Memorial Hall promises an afternoon of great music and Scenic Rim produce cooked masterfully over fire and smoke, while at Mount French Lodge there will be a Long Lunch on the Lawn featuring four courses of locally sourced ingredients perfectly paired with the local wines.

Throughout the day, Summer Land Camels at Harrisville will be presenting a Fermented Food Festival, celebrating the ancient craft of fermenting, through engaging displays and presentations. For seasoned fermenters or those who simply enjoy sourdough and beer, this event is a must, offering farm tours, tastings of camel milk products and camel rides.

Saturday ends with a six-course degustation dinner prepared by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Daniel Groneberg and his team in the cosy surrounds of The Roadvale Hotel.

On Sunday 9 June there's plenty of hands-on family-friendly fun at the Harvest with the Farmer morning at Valley Pride Produce at Charlwood and the Heritage Poultry Open Day at Harrisville.

Enjoy a Picnic in the Pavilion at The Vue Restaurant and enjoy local beers and wines with live music or gather fresh vegetables, bush tucker and get creative in the Secrets of the Scenic Rim cooking class at Mount Alford.

The weekend of gourmet experiences ends on a high point with the Eat Local Long Lunch at Spicers Peak Lodge and the Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm's A Locavore's Delight, where Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Elliot Platz will celebrate the flavours of the region.

In a first, and as a fitting finale to the more than 120 events of Eat Local Month, the Winter Harvest Festival will be held at in the picturesque setting of Kalbar as part of a full weekend of harvest activities across three days from 28 to 30 June.
