2 OCTOBER - FREE EMERGENCY TRAINING TO HELP SCENIC RIM GET READY

Council is offering free training to the local community which could help residents save lives in an emergency as part of RACQ Get Ready Week from 13-19 October. Council is delivering six free Accredited CPR and First Aid Workshops across the region which will equip participants with these life-saving skills in addition to 13 Parents and Bubs First Aid Workshops. A five-metre high sculpture reflecting the shared history of Australian South Sea Islanders (ASSI), the Mununjali community and landholders past and present of the Veresdale district will be unveiled this Saturday.

26 SEPTEMBER - FREE TREES COMBINE WITH WASTE ED WORKSHOP

Council is combining its Free Trees program with waste education workshops for a sustainability-focused morning in Canungra. The two programs will take place at D.J. Smith Park, Canungra on Saturday 4 October from 8am through 12pm, with workshops delivered throughout the morning.

A green makeover for popular Central Place is among a range of town centre improvements planned for the coming months as part of the Beaudesert Central Revitalisation Project.

24 SEPTEMBER - NEW CULVERTS BRIDGE THE GAP AT CREEK CROSSING

Repairs to the Gap Creek culvert on Tarome Rd are progressing with the project expected to be completed next month. Six pre-cast box culverts were recently lifted into place by crane as part of the disaster restoration project to repair the flood-damaged culvert crossing.

23 SEPTEMBER - VIBRANCY FUNDS BOOST FOR SCENIC RIM COMMUNITIES

Community improvements worth $850,000 will be rolled out region-wide as part of Council's Vibrant and Active Towns and Villages initiative. Council committed $1 million to this new initiative in 2014/15 and today voted to fund a range of projects in Aratula, Beaudesert, Boonah, Canungra, Tamborine and Tamborine Mountain.

A development proposal for a boutique style combined bed and breakfast with a dog kennel and cattery at Tamborine has today been approved.

23 SEPTEMBER - THE JERVIS' HAVE A PLACE

The renaming of Mabfield Court off Beechmont Road to Jervis Place has been approved by Council. Planning and Development Committee chair Cr Jennifer Sanders said the change was requested in recognition of the Jervis family's contributions to the community.
