27 FEBRUARY - A MILLION REASONS TO SEND IN THE ARMY

The Federal Government is putting boots on the ground in Scenic Rim to assist in the delivery of Council's landmark Million Trees initiative. Council will sponsor eight teams from the Commonwealth's Green Army Program over the next two years to deliver a range of environmental projects throughout the region.

26 FEBRUARY - WAR STORIES AND OUR TOWN: WHAT'S ON

War Stories and Our Town is a year-long program of exhibitions, performances, forums, community activities and commemorative events throughout the Scenic Rim. The program has been developed by Council in partnership with community organisations, including historical societies, cultural groups and veterans' organisations.

Council's Customer Contact Centre has proven to be the most efficient method of lodging a request with Council, twelve months since the project was rolled out.

25 FEBRUARY - SCENIC RIM SHOWS IT'S A COMMUNITY THAT CARES

Community leaders and mental health professionals gathered in Beaudesert today to shine a spotlight mental health issues affecting local communities. The inaugural Caring For Our Community forum was staged as part of the Scenic Rim's year-long War Stories and Our Town program and attracted more than 100 participants at The Centre.

25 FEBRUARY - WAR STORIES WINS FEDERAL FUNDING BOOST

Scenic Rim's War Stories and Our Town commemorative program for the Anzac Centenary has received a significant financial boost from the Federal Government. Council will receive $45,000 from $1.5 million of Commonwealth funding allocated under the first round of Anzac Centenary Public Grants Program.

25 FEBRUARY - COUNCIL TO RECOMMEND DIVISIONAL BOUNDARY CHANGES

Council will propose several changes to its divisional boundaries ahead of the local government election in 2016. The divisional boundaries of Scenic Rim have remained unchanged since establishment in 2008, but statistics obtained from the Queensland Electoral Commission showed that enrolments for all six divisions were continuing to grow but at differing rates.

24 FEBRUARY - FREE TREES FOR SCENIC RIM RATEPAYERS

Council has reaffirmed its commitment to helping Scenic Rim ratepayers green their properties through its annual Free Trees Program. The Free Trees Policy was recently reviewed and residents will continue to be provided with two free trees per rateable property, up to a maximum of six trees, each year.

An approval for a shopping centre on Leach Road at Tamborine Village was considered at today's Ordinary Meeting, paving the way for the development of the village centre.
