New planning changes involving koala habitat have been introduced by the State Government in association with the South East Queensland Koala Conservation Strategy. These changes affect the Scenic Rim Council area.
Koala Priority Areas and Koala Habitat Areas are now mapped in the Scenic Rim Region. All proposed development which includes the interfering with koala habitat in these mapped areas must consider the new legislation when determining whether an application is required.
For more background information, and details, please visit the Koala legislation and policy section of the Department of Environment and Science (Queensland Government) website.
