Waste and Resource Recovery

Scenic Rim Regional Council aims to manage waste efficiently, cost effectively and in an environmentally responsible manner.

We provide a range of waste services, including acceptance of many materials which must be separated to the appropriate areas for recycling or specialised disposal. Some services are free while others have a charge in order to cover associated costs. Council encourages householders to separate recyclable items from their general waste for recycling. The more you separate your recyclables, the lower waste disposal fee you pay! Most recyclables are free.

Our waste recovery efforts aim to be in line with the ambitious targets set by the Queensland Government’s Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2019 (Queensland Waste Strategy 2019). It aims to generate 25 per cent less waste by 2051, with only 10 per cent of all waste disposed in landfill.

Council is also committed to providing waste reduction and resource recovery education and information campaigns to schools, businesses and the general public. Find out more about our services in the links below. If you have any further questions, feel free to call Council on 5540 5111.
