Waste Asset Development, Operations and Services - Expressions of Interest (EOI)

In June 2021, Council endorsed its Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2021-2026 which aligns with the Queensland Government's vision for the next ten years of what waste reduction looks like and achieving zero waste to landfill.

As waste management continues to evolve and change rapidly, Council is committed to investigating best-practice waste and circular economy solutions. The Bromelton Waste Facility has been identified as an asset of regional significance for waste management.

What is the EOI process for?

Council is welcoming Expressions of Interest from both new and established businesses and social enterprises in the waste and resource recovery industry, who share our vision for a zero-waste future, who can assist in expanding the operations and services at the Bromelton Waste Facility and Landfill, and associated transfer stations.

This process will show the current state of the industry and assist Council in identifying potential partners in resource recovery, recycling and emerging technologies and in turn, enhance our service delivery and environmental outcomes through improved processes and new technologies for managing waste and waste facilities.

Through this process, we're also focused on maximising value to ratepayers and creating local jobs in the waste and resource recovery sector.

Why is an EOI process needed?

  • To respond to global, national and state policies on waste management
  • To progress a vision of becoming a zero-waste society
  • To improve and expand waste and resource recovery services to the community and broader SEQ region
  • To help meet a State-wide target of a 25% reduction in waste generation by 2050.
