The Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival is among events funded in Council's Community Grants Program

Twenty-seven grassroots groups and sporting clubs will receive almost $85,000 from Scenic Rim Regional Council for small projects that will be a big help in enabling them to continue to support their local communities.

At today's Ordinary Meeting, Council allocated a total of $84,488 under the Minor Community Grants Program, which is part of the broader Scenic Rim Community Grants Program 2024-2025.

More than half of the grant recipients will receive at least $3,000, with five organisations receiving the maximum amount of $5,000 for their projects.

Scenic Rim's Community, Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Kerri Cryer said the funding will go a long way towards helping not-for-profit groups which are at the heart of their local communities.

"Grassroots sporting clubs and organisations play a vital role in keeping our Scenic Rim community healthy and engaged,” Cr Cryer said.

“These grants will support community events, volunteer training, equipment purchases, and minor facility upgrades by organisations that cater to people of all ages and abilities.

"Whether it’s within our own family, friends or colleagues, we all know someone involved in a local club or association, which is a testament to the positive contribution these groups make to the social cohesion of the Scenic Rim.

“Council is pleased to provide support for these organisations which add so much value to community life."

The backbone of many of these groups are its volunteers, who rely on funding for essential equipment and facilities, enabling them to develop programs that enhance cultural, recreational, and community development opportunities across the Scenic Rim.

Previous projects funded under the 2024-2025 Scenic Rim Community Grants Program have helped to foster resilient, supportive and vibrant communities and enhance the social wellbeing of local residents.
