Scenic Rim shines with silver award
Scenic Rim Regional Council's 2023-2024 Annual report has won national recognition, achieving a silver award at the recent Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA).
A first-time ARA entrant, Council received the silver award in the category of Public Administration – Local, for its report which met the high international standards of professionalism, transparency and disclosure demanded by the ARA.
Cr Amanda Hay, who attended the ARA presentation in Melbourne, said she was honoured to accept the award on behalf of Council.
"Scenic Rim's 2023-2024 Annual Report showcases our region as a jewel in the crown of south East Queensland and Council's focus on continuous improvement in its delivery of services and infrastructure to our community," she said
"This award for excellence in reporting is wonderful recognition for our region and Council's dedicated staff."
ARA Chairman, Alan Colegate, said that entries in this year's awards showed significant improvements, especially in communicating business processes integrated with environment, social and governance principles - all important for organisations aiming to remain relevant and responsible in the midst of global dynamics.
Held annually since 1950, the ARA is a prestigious event in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.
This year's theme, 75 Years of Encouraging and Recognising Excellence in Annual Reporting, inspired transparent, honest, and informative reporting from 175 entries from public and private sector organisations across a range of categories.
"This achievement strengthens Scenic Rim Regional Council's position in the regional and international arena, in line with leading institutions in the field of reporting and governance," Cr Hay said.
"It also shows that the reports produced by this Council not only meet legislative obligations but are also recognised at the national and international level.
“After winning silver in its first year of entry in the awards, Council will be going for gold in 2026.”
