Community helps shape Scenic Rim's five-year strategic plan

The Scenic Rim community has played a vital role in shaping the future of the region, with strong engagement helping to guide Council’s new Corporate Plan 2025–2030.
Scenic Rim Mayor Tom Sharp said community input had been significant in the development of the plan, which sets the strategic direction for Council over the next five years and replaces both the existing Corporate Plan, Scenic Rim 2026, and the Community Plan 2011–2026.
“The Corporate Plan is not just a legislative requirement — it’s a vital document that defines our direction, our priorities, and how we allocate resources,” Cr Sharp said.
"That's why Council made listening and responding to the community a core part of its planning process."
Between 16 April and 12 May 2025, Council sought feedback on the Draft Corporate Plan through a range of channels, including online submissions via the Let’s Talk Scenic Rim platform, written responses, and face-to-face engagement events in Beaudesert, Boonah and Tamborine Mountain.
Almost 100 written responses on the Draft Corporate Plan were received, and 82 participants attended workshops.
"Feedback overwhelmingly supported the proposed vision, with more than 80 per cent of respondents agreeing with the vision statement included in the Draft Corporate Plan,” Cr Sharp said.
"Participants highlighted several key priorities, including management of growth and appropriate infrastructure, support for local small businesses, enhanced recycling and weed management, improved sport and recreation facilities, and Council’s role in fostering community resilience and disaster preparedness."
The Corporate Plan 2025–2030 will guide the development of the 2025–2026 Operational Plan and Budget, which are currently being finalised and will be presented for adoption in July 2025.
“This plan is not just for Council — it’s for our entire community,” Cr Sharp said.
“Together with our community, we’ve created a roadmap that reflects shared goals and supports a vibrant, sustainable future for the Scenic Rim."
