Scenic Rim Regional Council has agreed to provide $75,000 in funding for the 2025 Scenic Rim Trail and The Long Sunset, delivered by Queensland Music Festival (QMF).

At its Ordinary Meeting today, Council approved sponsorship of The Long Sunset and Scenic Rim Trail after QMF submitted updated plans showing changes to the event’s venue and dates.

Tourism and Regional Events Councillor Jennifer Sanders said The Long Sunset is now set to take place at Boonah Showgrounds from 31 October to 2 November 2025.

"The Scenic Rim Trail was a big success in 2024, bringing more than 4,500 visitors to the region,” Cr Sanders said.

“This event helps to showcase the Scenic Rim's profile and increase visitor satisfaction."

The Long Sunset was staged in 2022, 2023 and 2024 at Elysian Fields outside Canungra however, as the site was not available in 2025,  Council and QMF have worked together to secure a new venue to ensure the event remains in the Scenic Rim where it all began.

With Boonah Showgrounds now proposed, Council has adjusted its support to $75,000, with a portion of that to be spent on local artists and performers.

“Changing venues is a great opportunity to do things differently and involve more of our community,” Cr Sanders said.

"This year's artist line-up includes Gretta Ray, Vera Blue, Boy & Bear and Jem Cassar-Daley.

“We’ll continue to work with QMF to make sure the 2025 event is a great success for the Scenic Rim.”
