Thirty-seven community groups have had their wishes granted by Scenic Rim Regional Council, sharing in more than $91,000 of Grants Funding.

Round Two of Council's 2018-19 Community Grants Program will assist organisations to purchase equipment, improve safety and upgrade facilities to enrich the lives of Scenic Rim residents.

Corporate and Community Services Committee Chair, Cr Michael Enright said the grant applications were diverse, with projects ranging from small equipment to community festivals and capacity building programs.

"Council's Community Grants Program aims to provide assistance to grassroots not-for-profit community groups and organisations which make a positive contribution to the quality of life in the Scenic Rim," he said.

"These grants support many local organisations by strengthening the social interaction of our communities through events and activities that celebrate our identity, culture and diversity."

Council has committed more than $23,000 of in-kind support to 56 not-for-profit organisations to cover the costs of venue and equipment hire and waste disposal, in Round Two of the Grants Program.

Cr Enright encouraged community groups and organisation to consider applying for grant funding during the first round of the next financial year.

"Work with your club members to ensure important supporting documentation, such as a Strategic Plan, is in place and have clear goals about what you hope to achieve," he said.

Round 1 of the 2019-20 Community Grants Program will open in July, with details of the application process and closing date to be made available on Council's website.
