SCENIC RIM ACHIEVES SOUND CREDIT RATING

Strong operating performance has contributed to Scenic Rim Regional Council's sound credit rating following a review by Queensland Treasury Corporation.

The review, carried out in February 2019, found Council's capacity to meet its financial commitments in the short, medium and long-term and its capacity to manage core business risks was sound.

In addition, the Queensland Treasury Corporation's neutral outlook rating for Scenic Rim means there is less likelihood of Council's credit rating being exposed to significant negative impacts in the next one to two years.

Mayor Greg Christensen said the ratings reflect Council's stringent controls over revenue, strong operating performance and adequate levels of liquidity and ability to service debt.

"I am pleased to say that Scenic Rim Regional Council has a low debt per capita ratio when compared to other South East Queensland councils," he said.

"This is a significant achievement given the wide and diverse range of infrastructure and services that we have to support across our region when we have a comparatively small ratepayer base."
