COMMUNITY BRIEFING TO CLARIFY AIRFIELD'S FUTURE

The future of the Boonah Airfield will be discussed at a joint community briefing to be hosted by Scenic Rim Regional Council, Boonah Aviation Incorporated and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia next week.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen has invited local residents and airfield users to the Boonah Airfield Community Briefing to be held on Saturday 26 October 2019 at the Boonah Cultural Centre, 3 High Street, at 3pm.

"There has been a great deal of misinformation circulating in the community in recent weeks and this forum aims to address that and clarify the airfield's future," he said.

"Council and BAI recently affirmed their commitment to ongoing operations at the Boonah Airfield for the next five years and the completion of a thorough review to ensure future arrangements will best meet the long-term interests of the local community, airfield users and Council.

"A new lease to replace the current lease that expires in 2020 is being developed to incorporate a new service level agreement, improve communications and expectations and resolve a number of legacy issues."
