The change of the seasons is also heralding the arrival of Scenic Rim Regional Council's autumn Join In program of community and cultural events.

Council's 72-page quarterly guide to school holiday activities, concerts, movies, art exhibitions, library events and the Be Healthy & Active program will soon be distributed throughout the region and Mayor Greg Christensen has urged everyone to grab a copy and join in.

"The turn of the season, from summer to autumn, brings an artist's palette of colour to the Scenic Rim and our region's spectacular scenery and environment provide the perfect backdrop to our latest seasonal program of community and cultural events," he said.

"Join In is packed with free and low-cost activities, providing an opportunity to explore creativity, learn new skills, improve physical and mental well-being and connect with other community members.

The curtain goes up on the family fun with free movies in the park - outdoor screenings under the stars of The Secret Life of Pets 2 - for the young and young-at-heart.

It will be BYO chairs and blankets on Friday 20 March at Coronation Park Boonah, Saturday 21 March at Jubilee Park Beaudesert, and Saturday 28 March at Geissmann Oval Tamborine Mountain, where local clubs will be selling food and drink and there will be gas heaters to ward off the evening chill.

The cultural calendar continues with the launch on Friday 27 March of the Above & Below exhibition, showcasing the beauty of nature, at The Centre Beaudesert. This exhibition, featuring artists Therese Flynn-Clarke and Mary Elizabeth Barron, explores the environment from aerial and ground level viewpoints to reveal the often less appreciated and frequently unnoticed natural wonders of nature.

Join In includes a packed program of boredom-busting school holiday workshops and activities, special library events and the popular Kids' Flicks at Beaudesert and Boonah which, at $5 for all tickets including a drink and a snack, represent the value for family fun.

The autumn Be Healthy & Active program, delivered by qualified fitness and health professionals, includes a range of free and low-cost activities to encourage community members of all ages and abilities to embrace a healthier and more active lifestyle and establish new connections.

Join In also includes a range of regular activities for children and adults at local libraries, including book clubs, craft groups, story time sessions and Digital Days sessions providing help in the use of digital devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops.

Join In is being distributed across the Scenic Rim and is also available at Council's administration and customer contact centres, cultural centres and libraries and will be available to download from https://www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/join

"Council is proud to present this exciting seasonal offering of events and activities which has something for everyone to join in," Cr Christensen said.
