Swimmers keen to dive into their nearby public pool will soon have the opportunity with Council's pools set to reopen following the winter break.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said a lot of work had gone into maintaining the facilities to ensure the pools were ready for a busy summer and the winter close down has been utilized to ensure any operational interruptions during swim season are minimized.

"Our Council pools are a big hit with families right across the region during the warmer months, meaning every effort has gone into ensuring they are in pristine condition for when everybody can dive in," he said.

"Council is committed to delivering the best facilities for our residents, so we are thankful for the funding we received from the Queensland Government, which allowed us to complete these works.

"This will ensure the everyday operation and maintenance of the pools runs smoothly during the upcoming warmer months.”

A number of works were completed at certain pools during the winter break, including the installation of salt chlorine generators, new gas pool heaters, electric heat pumps chemical controllers, blanket rollers, thermal pool blankets and lighting upgrades.

The works were completed with funding Council received from the Queensland Government under their 2021-2024 South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.

In addition, the Beaudesert Pool lighting upgrade was funded through COVID Works for Queensland last year.

The public pools at Beaudesert, Tamborine Mountain and Canungra are set to open their doors on Saturday, 18 September, followed by the Boonah pool on Friday, 1 October following retiling works.

The Rathdowney pool will be open for business for six weeks over the Christmas holidays, while the Scenic Rim Aqua Fitness Centre in Boonah continues to be operational all year round, subject to COVID-19 impacts.

"Our Council pools are a great spot for families and friends to gather and catch up for some summer fun in a safe environment with qualified lifeguards overseeing the safety of all visitors," Cr Christensen said.

"Not only are pools used for fun and relaxation, but they are also a great facility where people can go to increase their fitness.

“Why not head down and swim laps or participate in one of Council's aqua classes, which are part of Council's Be Healthy and Active program.”

Daily passes to access the pools are $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for children and $2.00 for spectators.

Season passes can also be purchased for $225 for adults, $175 for children and concession, or $500 for a family of four.
