At a Council Ordinary Meeting in December 2019, and with the adoption of the Scenic Rim Planning Scheme in January 2020 subject to the Minister’s conditions of approval, the Growth Management Strategy was confirmed as a future strategic planning project.
Council resolved to investigate, analyse and present long term land use, environment, economic and infrastructure policy for the future sustainability and prosperity of the Scenic Rim region through undertaking a body of planning work which will be delivered as the Scenic Rim Growth Management Strategy.
The outcomes of the strategy will update Council’s growth management policy position and include an implementation plan which will recommend updates to existing policies (such as the planning scheme). The outcomes will also inform the next ShapingSEQ review around dwelling supply benchmarks, employment targets, and areas identified for future residential growth.
The project work commenced July 2020 and is anticipated to take approximately 2 years.
Further updates will be posted as progress is reported.
