Council commits to technology upgrades to boost service delivery

In a move set to enhance its efficiency and service delivery to ratepayers, Scenic Rim Regional Council has committed to investing $5.5 million over the next three years on upgrades to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems.
The investment is part of the 2025-2026 Budget and aligns with the Information and Communication Technology Strategic Plan 2024-2028, which guides ICT investments catering to both current and future organisational needs.
Mayor Tom Sharp said it was essential to have reliable ICT systems in place to continue to improve Council’s services.
"Upgrading ICT systems is vital for modern organisations like ours," he said.
“From making payments to submitting development applications, the new system will make it noticeably easier for residents and businesses to engage with Council.”
A large component of the upgrades will focus on the core system currently used by Council, TechnologyOne, an Australian enterprise software provider based in Brisbane.
Cybersecurity will be another critical focus of the investment, with upgrades to Council’s digital security systems designed to better protect sensitive ratepayer information and ensure greater system resilience in the face of increasing cyber threats.
The investment will also deliver a streamlined and integrated asset management system.
It will enable Council to consolidate and simplify its asset data, link customer requests to specific assets to monitor performance, and improve project management and long-term financial forecasting.
Enhanced data quality and reporting capabilities will support evidence-based decision-making and help Council respond more effectively to community needs.
"These upgrades underscore Council’s commitment to future-focused, community-first service delivery and responsible financial management," Cr Sharp said.
“Council is confident these changes will result in a better experience for everyone.
"We simply cannot afford the potential consequences of not planning ahead."
